A Skiing
Holiday in the Chamonix Valley region is hard to beat: it's where more
than 700kms of ski pistes are found!
The Allez-Ski chalet is towered by the famous Mont-Blanc mountain ranges and set in the heart of many famous ski areas. This area boasts a long snow season, with the skiing often starting early in December and finishing shortly after Easter. However, we like to operate only when we know the ski conditions will be at their best, hence our season runs from New Year to late March.
Why not ski in a different resort each day? We are perfectly placed for an easy drive to 10 of the best ski resorts in the region, and depending upon the time of the season, weather and snow conditions we will always try and advise on the best areas to visit.
Our local ski areas are the resorts of St Gervais, Megeve and Les Contamines, with altitudes from 1000m to 2350m where 125 ski lifts and more than 450 kms of superbly groomed skiing pistes are found.
All three resorts, St Gervais, Megeve and Les Contamines are suitable for beginners, intermediates and advanced and the 'easy to get around resorts' are perfect for a week's ski holiday where a new area can be found each day.
St
Gervais and Megeve together have more than 330 kms of linked ski pistes and have the
best selection of blue and red graded pistes in the whole of the Mont Blanc
Massif area. There are many green pistes for beginners and a selection of black
pistes for the advanced. A high proportion of the skiing is within the tree-line
allowing good visibility when the weather is not so good, which is not often!
Also found here is a vast selection of 'through the trees' off-piste terrain
that is fun for snowboarders and the more adventurous skier.
Les
Contamines has excellent skiing and snowboarding and has around 125 kms beautifully
groomed on-piste slopes and as much distance again off-piste. All the on and
off-piste areas interlink and a high proportion of the off-piste slopes are
ideal for the new off-piste skier or snowboarder. Also, Les Contamines has the
longest season as the north-east facing area keeps it's snow longer than most
places here.
The local lifts of St Gervais, Megeve and Les Contamines are just a short drive away and if you are without a car we offer a free daily minibus service from the chalet to and from the lift stations.
Below are the ski piste maps of St Gervais and Megeve, Les Contamines, Chamonix and Les Houches. Please click on the maps to enlarge the image.
For skiers that can comfortably ski blue runs and above and would like to learn more from this ski area, ask Dennis who has been skiing the area for 20 years to show you around. Dennis has a great knowledge of this area and will always try and find you the best skiing depending upon the weather. He'll take you to the quietest slopes and of course show you the best coffee stops and mountain restaurants in resorts.
Please note that we do not personally provide any instruction and do not hold a mountain guide qualification, we are just very experienced skiers who know the St Gervais, Megeve, Les Contamines and Chamonix ski areas well and are willing to share our knowledge with you.

All the ski areas here have their own ski schools. However, for a really personal touch we highly recommend Mike Beaudet who offers professional and friendly ski instruction for all standards.
